advanced aesthetic dentistry.
Porcelain veneers are very conservative esthetic dental
restorations that feel and function just like natural teeth! They
offer vitality and beauty that is so life-like that people
will believe they are your natural teeth. At the same
time, porcelain veneers are incredibly strong. When
bonded with today’s
adhesive technology and procedures, they can increase and
restore a tooth’s strength. Generally, a veneer can
correct or enhance any cosmetic situation. A thin layer of
the tooth is removed to allow a custom porcelain tooth facing
to be bonded to the tooth.
This allows us to lighten dark or discolored teeth, fix
fractured or chipped teeth, and straighten crooked or misaligned
teeth without the need for braces. It can also close
gaps and increase the length and size of teeth that have
worn down with time. Amazingly, all of this can usually
be accomplished in only two visits. See our patients before & after

Porcelain Veneers & Crowns
Do you hate to smile because of the appearance of your teeth?
Improving your smile can change your life! For individuals
in competitive professions, a beautiful smile often gives
them greater self-confidence and assurance. They look successful
and often report an improvement in both their professional
and personal relationships. Imagine- learning how to smile
again and appearing happy instead of hiding your smile and
looking solemn all the time! You're never too old to look
your best!
What are porcelain veneers?
Porcelain veneers arc thin. Custom-designed porcelain coverings
that are bonded to the front of prepared teeth. While whitening
can provide great results for dull-looking or slightly
discolored teeth, porcelain veneers completely transform
your smile and produce nothing short of spectacular, natural-looking
results.
Why are porcelain veneers often referred
to as “Instant
Orthodontics”?
Porcelain veneers are custom-designed to change not only
the color of your teeth, but the shape and size. They can
mask crooked teeth, disguise spaces and hide unevenness.
The result? The beautiful, straight smile you've always wanted.
How long will porcelain veneers last?
The technique has shown remarkable longevity when properly
performed. Generally, veneers will last for many years
- at least 10 and often up to 20 years or more.
Will they stain?
They are highly resistant to permanent staining from coffee,
tea, red wine or even cigarette smoke.
How do I care for my porcelain veneers?
You must maintain regular oral hygiene at home and visit
your dentist for routine cleanings and exams to ensure
that your veneers will look as good as new. Oral habits,
such us nail biting, opening bobby pins and chewing on
hard objects, could damage your veneers.
Why porcelain veneers instead of crowns and what's the difference
between them?
There are a number of variables that can influence the decision
on crowns versus veneers, such as your bite (occlusion),
periodontal condition and the amount of damage to the tooth.
In some cases, porcelain veneers will not work. The major
difference between crowns and veneers is the amount of tooth
structure that needs to be removed. Veneers are popular because
very little enamel is removed compared to crowns, which require
eliminating a large portion of the tooth.
Do porcelain veneers all look alike?
No. Porcelain veneers can look like natural teeth when done
correctly - The difference is in the skill of the dentist
that designs your new smile - including tooth size, shape
and color, and the lab that produces the veneer based on
your dentist's design. Creating the perfect smile requires
a blending of precision dentistry with an artistic sensitivity,
perfect planning and an eye for detail.
How do I know which dentist to select for my porcelain veneers?
Designing a beautiful smile is a blend of art and science.
Great attention to detail and precision is required on
a tooth-by-tooth basis. Selecting a dentist such as Dr.
Houtan Alayan, who has not only a great deal of practical
experience in cosmetic dentistry, but has undergone extensive,
advanced training in cosmetic dentistry at the prestigious
Las Vegas Institute for Advanced Dental Studies (LVI),
can help ensure that you will have a beautiful, lasting
smile thai is also functional and balanced.
How many veneers will I need?
The number can range from eight to 20, depending on your
smile. The easiest way to tell is to look in the mirror,
smile your natural smile and then count the number of teeth
that you see.
Can I see what my new smile will look like before I
set the veneers?
Yes! State-of-the-art wax-up models are used so you can
see your new smile and the dramatic impact on your appearance
beforehand. Dr. Alayan will work closely with you to determine
the type of smile you want to achieve.

TMD/TMJ Syndrome
Are you experiencing:
Headaches
Pain in and around the jaw areas
The sound of your jaw clicking or popping
Snoring
Dizziness, grinding or clenching your teeth
Stiff or sore neck and shoulder muscles
Toothaches or sensitive teeth unrelated to cavities or gum disease
Clogging or stuffiness in your ears
Abnormal tooth wear at the gum line or a loss of tooth enamel
Muscles that are not stabilized create uneven tooth wear
and fractures, headaches, and a host of other physical and
dental disorders. However, these conditions are changed
by adjusting the bite. orthodontics, or restoring the teeth to the correct
position. By fitting the patient with dental restorations, areas of the
bite can be precisely raised or lowered to create a naturally comfortable
muscular position for the jaw. In most cases, the jaw can
be repositioned without surgery or braces. When the optimal correction
is achieved, patients experience a range of benefits, including decreased
or eliminated pain and discomfort, as well as better overall health and
longer-lasting dental restorations.
Biometric procedures begin with treatments using advanced
computerized equipment that sends electro-pulses into facial
muscles. Once the muscles are relaxed, the ultimate stress-free
position of the jaw muscles can be determined. An orthotic
appliance is then designed to help reposition the bite and
stabilize the facial muscles in a comfortable position.
Biometric treatments can prevent the teeth from shifting.
Patients share that their headaches disappear and they no
longer need pain medication. They also lend to experience
a more restful sleep. For many, this is life-changing.
Have you ever wondered why you have headaches so frequently? Do you
medicate daily as though you were taking vitamins? Do you
wake up with sore jaw muscles? Are your teeth getting shorter
over the years? Isn't it about time to treat the problem
rather than the symptoms? If so, than
neuromuscular dentistry may b the best treatment option.
This technique is
based on the belief that a healthy smile begins with healthy
muscles,
joints, and bite (occlusion). This method of treatment determines
the
optimal physiological jaw position relative to the skull
by obtaining the
relaxed position of the masticating muscles (chewing muscles),
face muscles,
and posturing muscles and positioning the bite into this
physiological
position.
Muscles that control the jaw are used when chewing, swallowing,
and
speaking. Muscles (which are soft tissue) that are
imbalanced by the occlusion
(bite) begin to rage a war against the teeth (which are hard
tissue) that
forms the bite. This is how excessive tooth
wear, uneven
tooth wear, tooth fracture, chronic headaches and migraines,
sore jaw
muscles and a host of other physical and dental disorders
originate.
However, these conditions are changed by adjusting the bite,
orthodontics,
or restoring the teeth to the correct jaw position. When
the optimal
position is achieved benefits include a decrease or elimination
of pain and
discomfort, better overall health, and longer lasting restorations.
Patient's share that their headaches disappear and they no
longer need chronic pain medications (saving a lot of money
on medications). They may
also experience more restful sleep and for many this is a
life-changing
service.
CEREC
3D
A
computer aided design and manufacturing technology in dentistry
that allows us to custom fabricate tooth colored restorations,
such as crowns and onlays, in our office in a single visit.
No more need for temporaries or a return visit by the patient
to complete the restorative visit, including limiting the
need for additional anesthesia. This will save time and money
by avoiding another day of missed work, with the added value
of long term success rates with these restorations.
SEDATION OPTIONS
It
is true that one out of seven people suffer from dental anxiety.
These people may avoid going to the dentist altogether, but
suffer the consequences later. Sedation dentistry offers
a variety of solutions. For starters, it decreases patient's
anxiety, increases their tolerance and decreases their pain
level, and helps them feel far less apprehensive throughout
the procedure. Dr. Alayan is licensed to administer Nitrous
Oxide sedation (laughing gas) and a deeper level of sedation
called Conscious Sedation. Now any patient's that have avoided
dentistry can look forward to
a pleasant experience while at the dentist.
TOOTH COLORED RESTORATIONS (Mercury Free)
We are a mercury-free practice. However, many people still
have silver/mercury fillings from years past in their mouths.
These fillings are not particularly pleasing to the eye,
and we know that by design, silver/mercury fillings ultimately
result in a weaker tooth structure.
Porcelain onlays and composite resins create fillings that
are not only beautiful (or unnoticeable) but also add strength
to weakened teeth. These restorations are esthetically pleasing
and very strong thanks to new bonding technologies.
IMPLANTS
There is a better solution to restoring lost teeth due
to accident or disease than the traditional partial, denture
or bridge. Restoring your mouth where one or more teeth have
been lost starts by replacing the lost tooth root, this is
what a dental implant does. Dental Implants are artificail
tooth roots that are placed in the jaw bone. We then can
attach replacement teeth that look and feel just like the
real thing. You can bite, chew, speak and smile with confidence.
New technology has enabled the implant to be done in a single
appointment, without the multiple surgeries associated with
implants in the past. A consultation appointment to explain
treatment options and to verify that your jawbone is ready
to support dental implants begins the process.
Zoom! TEETH WHITENING
The Zoom2! In-Office Whitening System is a revolutionary
tooth whitening procedure. It's safe, effective and fast -
very fast. In just over an hour, your teeth can be dramatically
whiter. Zoom2! Whitening is ideal for anyone looking for immediate
results. The convenience of Zoom2! in comparison to days of
wearing trays and gradual whitening makes it the perfect choice
for the busy individual.
Get ready to Zoom2!
The Zoom2! Whitening procedure is simple and painless.
It begins with a short preparation to isolate your lips and
gums. Then the proprietary Zoom2! Whitening Gel is applied,
which is activated by a specially designed light. Teeth on
average become at least six to eight shades whiter, sometimes
more. You will be amazed with the results! In most cases,
your teeth will get even whiter the first few days after the
procedure.
How Zoom2! Works
The Zoom2! Light-activated gel was developed after years
of research by Discus Dental, the leaders in professional
take-home tooth whitening. The gel is a scientifically formulated,
pH balanced hydrogen peroxide that, when activated by the
Zoom2! light, gently penetrates the teeth to remove deep stains
and discoloration. With proper care and an occasional touch-up
at home, your whiter smile will sparkle for years.

DIGITAL RADIOGRAPHY
With
this exciting new technology, instead of a trip to the developer,
the dentist and patient can view their x-ray images on the
computer screen just seconds after their radiographs are taken.
The images are stored in the computers memory, from where
they can easily be retrieved. The chemical waste associated
with film processing is eliminated and more significantly,
patients are exposed to 90% less radiation dosage.
INTRA-ORAL CAMERA
The
latest in dental technology gives us the Acucam
intra-oral camera. It is a wonderful tool that allows us to
take a very close look at the patient’s teeth. With
a miniaturized camera, we can display things in the mouth
that are magnified 25 times on the monitor. This way, it
allows the patient to see everything we see!
Nonsurgical Periodontal (Gum)
Therapy
Research has shown that periodontal health can be achieved
with less invasive and more cost-effective procedures. If
you have been diagnosed with periodontal disease, we will
begin with scaling and root planing, anti-microbial rinse
irrigation, and placement of antibiotics as indicated. These
procedures are completed with little to no pain and injection-free
anesthetic is available and will wear off by the end of your
appointment. 85% of Americans have some form of periodontal
disease and when left untreated can lead to tooth loss and
harmful systemic risks. More information available at www.perio.org
